This is a great book and still valuable reading six years after publication.I no longer code in ActionScript 2, so I was a little disappointed that all the book's examples used ActionScript 2 and not ActionScript 3. But, rather than be put off by the lack of current ActionScript coding, I rewrote every example in ActionScript 3 and brought the code up to date with the latest that ActionScript has to offer. And, every example works just as well in ActionScript 3 as the author intended it to work with ActionScript 2. In fact, I learned a lot by my updating all the code.Before I selected this book, I searched extensively, and unsuccessfully, for a book that intertwined ActionScript, PHP and MySQL. And, this book is the -only- book I found that covered this mix as more than a passing page or two within another book. So, despite the use of ActionScript 2, I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in coding ActionScript with PHP and MySQL.I also suggest to the author that he publish a revised edition with ActionScript 3 examples. As I already said, I rewrote all the examples in ActionScript 3 and they all work as intended.Also, check out other books by David Powers. I own and have read one or two others. He is a great author who conveys the material clearly and exhaustively well.
