Bundle includes 2 items: (1) Reotemp Garden and Compost Moisture Meter MM15 with (1) Reotemp Backyard Compost Thermometer FG20P. The Reotemp MM15 Moisture Meter has a 15" long stem that is used to measure moisture content of soil or compost by means of a sensor at the bottom of the probe. The scale measures moisture from 0-10 and indicates if your soil or compost is "wetter" or "dryer." Calibration: The meter must first be calibrated by taking a sample of your compost or soil and adding water to the sample until it's at your "ideal" moisture level. Then adjust the calibration screw on the back of the dial until it reaches "5" on the 0-10 scale. Now that the meter is calibrated, when you come back again to check your compost or soil you'll know if it's too dry or too wet. If the reading is above "5" it's too wet, if it's below "5" it's too dry. The FG20P Backyard Compost Thermometer takes all the guessing out of composting, allowing you to know when to turn the pile, when to add more material, when to water, and when the compost is done. Hermetically sealed dial, reinforced construction, quality bimetal coils, and a thick 1/4" diameter stem make the FG20P perfect for rugged outdoor use.
