The American Innovation $1 Coin representing Vermont features a young female snowboarder in the air performing a trick called a “melon grab,” set against a mountainous winter skyline inspired by the landscape of Vermont. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “VERMONT.” The American Innovation $1 Coin representing Rhode Island features Nathanael Herreshoff’s famous Reliance yacht at full speed in the waters surrounding Rhode Island. The design is bordered by a rope evoking the nautical scene. The American Innovation $1 Coin representing Kentucky recognizes the invention of bluegrass music. Bluegrass has roots in traditional English, Scottish, and Irish ballads and dance tunes, as well as in traditional African American blues and jazz. The American Innovation $1 Coin representing Tennessee recognizes the formation of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Congress created the TVA in 1933 to construct transmission lines to serve farms and villages that were not otherwise supplied with electricity at reasonable rates. The obverse design features a dramatic representation of the Statue of Liberty in profile with the inscriptions “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “$1.” D - Mint is Denver Mint.
